The word Lares means domestic gods. The company was named after a poem by Scottish poet John Burnside (see Inspiration page). The philosophy being to evoke a sense of familiarity and a feeling of Home Comforts: Lares products fit into the home as if they had always been there and had always been well loved.

Lares fine bedding is all about laid back, low-key luxury. We are a cottage industry making and selling duvet covers; cushions; covered hot water bottles; pillowcases; throws and hand towels in fine and vintage fabrics. Our priorities are how any fabric feels against the skin and just as importantly, how it survives in a busy home.
